Blood Pressure Checks Without the Stress

At our clinic, we want to work with you to make blood pressure checks as comfortable and low-stress as possible. Knowing your blood pressure is an important part of understanding your cardiovascular health, but we understand that it can feel intimidating for some patients. Our goal is to gather this important information while supporting you every step of the way.

To help minimize stress and maintain privacy around blood pressure checks:

  • We schedule 15 minutes between patients, so you won’t feel rushed or crowded.

  • Our waiting room includes a fountain and a calm environment to help reduce medical anxiety.

  • Blood pressure checks are important for understanding your cardiovascular health, but they do not need to be the first thing on your appointment.

Ways we offer to make blood pressure measurements more comfortable:

  • Let Dr. Lok know if you’re nervous about blood pressure checks. We typically don’t have blood pressure be the first thing checked since people are often coming from outside stressful situations but on request we can.

  • While blood pressure is a key measure, we also assess other indicators of cardiovascular health, including heart rate, weight (kg), cholesterol levels, and lifestyle factors. These provide a fuller picture of your overall health.

  • You can also monitor your blood pressure at home and bring those readings to your appointment. This helps us track trends over time and ensures your home cuff is accurate.

  • As a Direct Primary Care clinic (membership-based), you get more time with your doctor and a more personal experience, without feeling rushed or overwhelmed by large clinic traffic. Our model reduces stress by keeping visits simple: you mainly see Dr. Locke and, if needed, one administrative team member.

Don’t let anxiety about blood pressure keep you from discussing other health concerns.
Your health and comfort are our priorities. Blood pressure is important, but it is just one piece of your overall health picture. We are here to work with you, at your pace, to ensure you feel safe, supported, and fully cared for.
