Meet Dr. Catherine Lok D.O.
Founder of Well Woven
Daoist Traditions Biomedical Professor
2025 Castle Connolly Rising Top Doctor
A doctor shaped by the belief that medicine could be better.
Dr. Catherine Lok, D.O. grew up in a small town in Ohio, where her mother was the local chiropractor. As a child, she would shadow her mother on visits to the local Amish community. They were invited into patients' homes on cold winter mornings, herbs hanging in the kitchen, the smell of fresh-baked bread, a doctor and patient at ease with one another in a way that felt rare and right.
She carried that image of medicine with her through years of demanding training: first at A.T. Still University College of Osteopathic Medicine, one of the nation's premier osteopathic medical schools, then through a rigorous three-year family medicine residency at Central Maine Medical Center. There she cared for over a thousand hospitalized patients during the early part of the COVID-19 pandemic and served as primary care physician for hundreds more in clinic, often relying on pharmaceuticals and speed to satisfy insurance demands, knowing the whole time that her patients deserved a more integrative approach.
At the end of residency, she turned down several high-paying positions in corporate medicine. She knew the kind of doctor she could be. She opened Well Woven in Asheville because she couldn't find a practice that would let her be that doctor — so she built one.

We Welcome Patients Who Are…

Navigating care across multiple specialists
Looking for LGBTQ+ affirming, trauma-informed care
Ready for a long-term relationship with their physician
Done feeling like a number
What To Expect At Well Woven
Dr. Lok practices conventional medicine with an integrative lens. Evidence-based, scientifically grounded, and attentive to the whole person. She is not a naturopath or a functional specialist. She is a board-certified family medicine physician who believes that good medicine and good relationship are not separate things.
She is your go-to. When you have a question, she's who you call. When specialists are involved, she's the one holding the whole picture. Her goal is to keep your primary care primary so you're not left navigating a fragmented system alone.
Complexity is welcome here. So is nuance, history, and the things that's hard to explain in an 8-minute appointment.
